My "ticked off" list:* Words of the Day: Umm... and Ugh! - author received a bonus if she used these "words" excessively.
* Note to said author: People doze off; they do not dose off (unless they've overmedicated.)
* What little there was of this story began when Elena's brother "sold her" to a dirty cop (soon to be her fiancé against her will... just how does that happen?). Anyway, this is done so the brother could have a lifetime guarantee of getting away with his many illegal activities. When she becomes engaged against her will (I'm not making this stuff up, folks), she decides to run away from home to save herself, her parents and evil brother. Never knew or understood why that was her only option or why her running away saved them, but whatever. The story ended a year later with her offering herself to P.I. Jason as payment for his help (never understood what exact help she was seeking). Seems she went full circle - one domineering man to another!
* The two main characters were all "my man!" and "my woman!" after knowing each other a few days - I half expected them to start swinging from vines and adopting a monkey named Cheetah!
* What was with the over-usage of 'darlin'' and 'yeah?' every time Tarzan opened his mouth? Two more bonus words, I guess.
* Not much conversation in the book but page after page of thinking. She'd say a word or two to him and then there'd be several pages of her internal dialogue; then he'd finally get to respond with one or two spoken words and there'd be several more pages of his internal dialogue. It took forever for anyone to have an actual conversation!
* This was one of those books that described the day's events, then have one or the other (or both) characters recall those precious moments in detail at the day's end. We basically get to read about everything twice, or sometimes three times!
* And please, don't tell me that he carried her into his bedroom and THEN expect me to read several pages describing the furniture, lighting affects, and the green bedspread!! Wonder what the thread count was on those sheets???
* At about the 62% mark I scanned ahead to the last several pages to see how this poor, sweet, abused, homeless, innocent girl managed to live happily ever after. And, of course, she did... Umm; Ugh!!

Two Truths and a Lie PRG Investigations Volume 1 Ashley Stoyanoff 9781927806098 Books Reviews
Well let me start by saying the editing in this book was Fantastic. I know that is a strange way to start a review but if you knew how much of a "grammar" snob I am you'd understand.
Elena Reed is in trouble and she needs help. Enter Jason Pierce. This story told by Ashley Stoyanoff leaves your heart pounding with excitement and lust. With each chapter you learn a little more about Elena's need to trust but finds it difficult to do until Jace breaks thru the walls. While she is overcoming her own fears and insecurities he must learn to forgive the man that hurt him but is also responsible for him finding love.
If you are looking for a book that takes a different approach at romance while including a few twists and turns then you definitely want to read this book!
I can't really find the right description in the description boxes. I enjoyed the book, I saw it on my twitter page and downloaded it, I read it through start to finish, when I downloaded it, the teaser chapters definitely made me want to read more. This isn't a long read, nor is it something that needs much thought. I didn't dismiss it out of hand though. I used always read start to finish, but lately I have been more selective and quite a few of my e-book downloads have been set aside for one reason or another. I think that at the early low price it's good value and very readable, I might not feel that way had I paid much more, it's comparative. I compare the story with others in the same genre and it's really too short for me. I think the heroine disappearing for a year over the abuse she suffered, was a bit extreme, I would have though, assuming as she's in college that she's intelligent and if she was unable to go to the police, that she might go to a private investigator nearer to home immediately and let them hide her while they did their thing. The hero and his partners are much more believable they come across as thoroughly great guys intent on ensuring the heroines safety. To sum up, despite it's brevity I did enjoy it and think it definitely justifies four stars
This story is AMAZING! It's another FB find for me - I don't know the author, just saw a little snippet of a blurb from one of the blogs I follow & I was intrigued enough to check it out. SO GLAD I DID! )
Elena has been on the run for a year, and of course she's tired of it. She happens upon someone who knows of a PI who can help her. She takes a chance & meets Jason, Wes, and Vance. At first, Jason is a TOTAL jerk, but it's only because he thinks Elena is messing with him. Once he figures out that she isn't, that she's really there because she needs his help, his Alpha-protective side comes out & he works his butt off to A) earn her trust & B) protect her from the DB she's running from!
They spark really quickly (LOL, you'll get why that's funny once you read this)(and I highly recommend this story!) & I L O V E their banter, their tentativeness, the boldness that's woven into that... There is tension (I wouldn't say angst) and some action. There's friendship & a broken relationship w/ his dad. This story has it all, and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series! )
